Properties
align?
optionalalign?:HAlign
Horizontal alignment
When a shape's text is an array of runs, set this on every run of a paragraph. breakLine is not the only paragraph boundary: two adjacent runs whose align differs start a new one, so stating it on the opening run alone splits the paragraph in two. That is the mirror of bullet, paraMarginLeft and paraIndent, which are read from the opening run only. Neither mistake changes the run count: the only symptom is a differently shaped paragraph, with no error.
Default
ts
'left'Inherited from
altText?
optionalaltText?:string
Alt Text value ("How would you describe this object and its contents to someone who is blind?")
- PowerPoint: [right-click on a chart] > "Edit Alt Text..."
Overrides
bar3DShape?
optionalbar3DShape?:"cone"|"coneToMax"|"box"|"cylinder"|"pyramid"|"pyramidToMax"
The solid a 3-D bar is drawn as (ST_Shape).
Default
ts
'box'Inherited from
barDir?
optionalbarDir?:"col"|"bar"
Whether bars run horizontally (bar) or vertically (col) (ST_BarDir).
Default

barGapDepthPct?
optionalbarGapDepthPct?:number
Inherited from
ChartPropsChartBar.barGapDepthPct
barGapWidthPct?
optionalbarGapWidthPct?:number
MS-PPT > Format chart > Format Data Point > Series Options > "Gap Width"
- width (percent)
- range:
0-500
Default
ts
150Inherited from
ChartPropsChartBar.barGapWidthPct
barGrouping?
optionalbarGrouping?:"standard"|"percentStacked"|"clustered"|"stacked"
How the plot stacks its series (ST_BarGrouping). A 2-D bar plot takes every member but standard, which is the 3-D form's own default; an out-of-range value falls back to the default for the plot with a warning.
Default
ts
'clustered' (2-D), 'standard' (3-D)Inherited from
ChartPropsChartBar.barGrouping
barOverlapPct?
optionalbarOverlapPct?:number
MS-PPT > Format chart > Format Data Point > Series Options > "Series Overlap"
- overlap (percent)
- range:
-100-100
Default
ts
0Inherited from
ChartPropsChartBar.barOverlapPct
barSeriesLine?
optionalbarSeriesLine?:boolean|OptsChartGridLine
Draw connector lines between data points across stacked bar/column series ("Series Lines" in PowerPoint). Emits <c:serLines> in the bar chart.
trueuses PowerPoint's automatic line styling.- An OptsChartGridLine object customizes color/size/style/cap.
- Omit (or pass an object with
style: 'none') to disable.
Bar (bar) charts only; ignored for 3D bar charts.

binning?
optionalbinning?:ChartExBinning
Bin configuration for a histogram chart. Omit for PowerPoint's automatic binning.
Example

optionalbreakLine?:boolean
Add a line-break
Default
ts

bullet?
optionalbullet?:boolean|"inherit"|TextBulletProps
Add standard or custom bullet
- use
truefor standard bullet - pass object options for custom bullet
falseis the explicit off: it writes<a:buNone/>plusmarL="0" indent="0", which overrides whatever bullet the layout's or master's list style sets for this level'inherit'states nothing at all (no bullet child and no margin attributes), so the list style keeps reaching the paragraph- omitting the option means
'inherit'on a placeholder definition (defineSlideMaster({ objects })), and on text filling a placeholder the layout defines, which takes the definition's bullet. Anywhere else it meansfalse
The margins are only a default of the bullet state: paraMarginLeft and paraIndent state @marL/@indent independently in any of the three, including an inherited margin under a drawn bullet.
When a shape's text is an array of runs, state this on the opening run only. A run that draws a bullet starts a new paragraph by itself, so repeating it (the placement that align requires) turns one three-run paragraph into three one-run paragraphs. A paragraph takes its properties from its first run.
Default
false, or 'inherit' on a placeholder
Inherited from
caps?
optionalcaps?:"small"|"all"|"none"
Text capitalization (a:rPr/@cap, ST_TextCapsType)
'all'= ALL CAPS'small'= Small Caps'none'= the explicit off: it writescap="none", which overrides a capitalization the run would otherwise inherit. Omitting the option states nothing and lets that inheritance stand- PowerPoint: Font > Effects > All Caps / Small Caps
Default
ts

catAxes?
optionalcatAxes?:ChartPropsAxisCat[]
Multi-Chart prop: array of cat axes
Inherited from
catAxisBaseTimeUnit?
optionalcatAxisBaseTimeUnit?:"years"|"months"|"days"
The unit a date axis counts from in (c:baseTimeUnit/@val, ST_TimeUnit).
The canonical spelling is lower-case, and the check forgives case at run time, so 'Days' is taken as days. The type names the canonical three so the call site offers them; do not read the narrower type as permission to drop the tolerance, which a JavaScript caller with no types still relies on. Anything else warns chart/invalid-axis-time-unit and leaves the element off, because a garbage unit makes PowerPoint render nothing at all.

- Example:
'0.00','#,##0','mmm yyyy' - PowerPoint: Format Axis > Number > Format Code
Inherited from

catAxisLabelFrequency?
optionalcatAxisLabelFrequency?:string|number
Show every Nth category label (c:tickLblSkip, ST_Skip), e.g. 2 for every other one.
- a whole number of at least 1; anything else warns and leaves the element off
Pass a number. The string half is a compatibility hangover (this was typed as a free-form string and emitted verbatim, which both rejected the natural 2 and let 'every other' reach the attribute), and is read with Number() like any other.
Inherited from
ChartPropsAxisCat.catAxisLabelFrequency
catAxisLabelPos?
optionalcatAxisLabelPos?:"none"|"high"|"low"|"nextTo"
Inherited from
ChartPropsAxisCat.catAxisLabelPos
catAxisLabelRotate?
optionalcatAxisLabelRotate?:number
Inherited from
ChartPropsAxisCat.catAxisLabelRotate
catAxisLine?
optionalcatAxisLine?:StrokeProps
The category axis line, as a stroke: width, dashType, type, color, cap and transparency under the same names a table border and a gridline use.
type: 'none' paints no line (an <a:noFill/> on the axis' own <c:spPr>), which is what catAxisLineShow: false used to say. Omitted, the line is drawn at 1 pt in DEF_GRIDLINE_COLOR, solid, flat-capped.
The four flat catAxisLine* keys below are the pre-4.0 spellings. Anything set here wins over its flat counterpart. They cannot express a cap, a transparency, or any dash outside solid/dash/dot, which is why they are superseded rather than widened.

The type names the canonical three so the call site offers them; do not read the narrower type as permission to drop the tolerance, which a JavaScript caller with no types still relies on. - above 0; anything else warns and leaves the element off
Inherited from
ChartPropsAxisCat.catAxisMajorUnit
catAxisMaxVal?

catLabelFormatCode?
optionalcatLabelFormatCode?:string

- Example:
'yyyy-mm-dd','mmm yyyy' - labels: ISO dates or date-times (
'2026-01-01','2026-01-01T12:00') or date serial numbers; ISO ones are written as their serials. A label that is neither warns and the categories stay text. - PowerPoint: Format Axis > Number > Format Code
Inherited from
ChartPropsAxisCat.catLabelFormatCode
chartArea?
optionalchartArea?:ChartAreaProps
PowerPoint: Format Chart Area (Fill & Border/Line)
Inherited from
chartColors?
optionalchartColors?:string[]
Series colours, cycled: series (or, on a pie/doughnut, data point) n takes chartColors[n % chartColors.length], so a shorter list repeats rather than running out.
Omitting it, or passing an empty array, both mean the same thing: the built-in default palette for the chart type. Two spellings of "I named no colours"; there is no third state that suppresses the fills.
Inherited from
chartColorsOpacity?
optionalchartColorsOpacity?:number
Series fill opacity, as a percentage from 0 to 100.
0 means what it says: a fully transparent fill, so the series is invisible. That is a deliberate meaning, not a shorthand for "unset"; leave the option out for an opaque fill. A value outside 0-100 clamps with a warning, and NaN throws.
Example
ts
50 // 50% opaqueInherited from

ChartPropsDataLabel.dataLabelFormatCode
dataLabelFormatScatter?
optionaldataLabelFormatScatter?:"custom"|"customXY"|"XY"
What a scatter's data labels show when ChartPropsBase.showLabel is set. A scatter writes series labels only for one of these, so showLabel alone shows nothing.
'XY': each point's value and category name, composed by PowerPoint;'custom': each point's label text;'customXY': each point's label text followed by its X and Y values, for a label that is not blank.
Inherited from
ChartPropsDataLabel.dataLabelFormatScatter
dataLabelPosition?
optionaldataLabelPosition?:"r"|"b"|"ctr"|"t"|"l"|"bestFit"|"inBase"|"inEnd"|"outEnd"
Where a data label sits relative to its point (ST_DLblPos).
The whole set is legal on the attribute, but only a subset of it is legal per plot type -- a pie takes bestFit/ctr/inEnd/outEnd and nothing else, a stacked bar takes inBase and not outEnd. A value outside this plot's subset is dropped with a warning rather than emitted, because PowerPoint reports the file as needing repair.

Default
ts

ChartPropsChartPie.firstSliceAng
fontFace?
optionalfontFace?:string
Font face name
Applied to the Latin (<a:latin>) and complex-script (<a:cs>) font slots, matching how PowerPoint writes a font picked from the UI. The East Asian slot (<a:ea>) is left to inherit from the theme unless fontFaceEA is set. Forcing a Latin-only face into the East Asian slot duplicates/ghosts text in Office 365.
Example
ts
'Arial' // Arial fontInherited from
fontFaceEA?
optionalfontFaceEA?:string
East Asian font face name (<a:ea> slot), used to render CJK (Chinese/Japanese/Korean) glyphs
Independent of fontFace: set alone, it writes only <a:ea> and the Latin and complex-script slots keep inheriting. When omitted, <a:ea> inherits the theme East Asian font, which is what PowerPoint does for Latin fonts.
Example
ts
'微軟正黑體' // render East Asian glyphs with Microsoft JhengHeiInherited from

Example
ts

legendFontSize?
optionallegendFontSize?:number
Inherited from
ChartPropsLegend.legendFontSize
legendLayout?
optionallegendLayout?:PositionProps
Manual legend placement within the chart area.
Each of x/y/w/h is a fraction (0-1) of the chart's width/height. x/y position the legend's top-left corner relative to the chart edge; w/h set its size. Each axis is independent: provide only x to move the legend horizontally while leaving vertical placement and size automatic. Setting this overrides the automatic placement implied by legendPos.
Held to the plot area's ChartPropsBase.layout rule: x and y from 0 to 1, w and h above 0 and at most 1. A value outside that, or one that is not a number, warns and is dropped, so that axis stays automatic. ST_Double itself is unbounded; whether PowerPoint places a legend reaching past the chart edge has not been checked, so the narrower rule stands.
Has no effect unless showLegend is true.
Example
ts
{ x: 0.7, y: 0.3, w: 0.25, h: 0.4 }Inherited from

lineDashValues?
optionallineDashValues?:ChartLineDash[]
Per-series dash type overrides; index matches the series order in the data array, and on a combo, the order across every subchart, the same index seriesOptions uses.

metadata?
optionalmetadata?:Record<string,string>
Custom chart-level metadata, emitted as a schema-valid extension on the chart space (c:chartSpace/c:extLst) under a stable pptx-ts vendor GUID.
- Use for round-trippable, machine-readable annotations a consumer wants to travel with the chart (e.g. a source-data id, a generator tag, a semantic role). PowerPoint preserves the extension untouched and ignores it for rendering.
- Keys must be non-empty strings; values must be strings. Invalid entries are dropped with a console warning rather than emitting degenerate XML.
Example
ts
{ sourceId: 'q3-revenue', generator: 'my-deck-tool' }objectLock?
optionalobjectLock?:ObjectLockProps
Object lock flags (DrawingML a:spLocks / a:picLocks / a:graphicFrameLocks)
- restrict how the object can be manipulated in PowerPoint (e.g. prevent moving, resizing, or grouping)
- each flag maps 1:1 to the OOXML attribute of the same name; only flags set to
trueare emitted - PowerPoint UI: Selection Pane / right-click protections (most locks are honored at edit time, not as a password)
- flags only apply to the object types that support them (see each flag); flags set on an unsupported object type are ignored with a console warning
Examples
ts
{ noMove: true, noResize: true } // pin an object in placets
{ noGrp: true } // exclude from groupingInherited from
objectName?
optionalobjectName?:string
Object name
- used instead of the default name for the object's kind:
Text 1,Shape 2,Image 1and so on, numbered per kind (seedocs/reference/object-names.md) - PowerPoint: Home > Arrange > Selection Pane...
Example
ts
'Antenna Design 9'Inherited from
paraIndent?
optionalparaIndent?:number|"inherit"
First-line indent (points): a:pPr/@indent, the offset of the paragraph's FIRST line from paraMarginLeft. Negative hangs the first line to the left of the body, which is what a bulleted paragraph does; positive indents it to the right, the "first line indented" prose form. PowerPoint: Paragraph > Indentation > Special.
'inherit'writes no@indentat all, so the paragraph takes whatever its list style (a:lstStyle→ placeholder → layout → master) sets: the same third state bullet spells, on the attribute beside it- omitting the option keeps the bullet-derived default: a drawn bullet hangs the first line by its margin,
bullet: falsewritesindent="0",bullet: 'inherit'writes nothing - a value here overrides all of those, in every bullet state
Examples
ts
-18 // hang the first line 18pt left of the body textts
18 // indent the first line 18pt, prose stylets
'inherit' // keep the list style's indent, even on a bulleted paragraphRemarks
Read from the opening run of a paragraph, like bullet and unlike align; a value on a continuation run is ignored.
Inherited from
paraMarginLeft?
optionalparaMarginLeft?:number|"inherit"
Left margin of the paragraph (points): a:pPr/@marL, where the paragraph's body text starts. This is the paragraph's own margin, not the text frame's internal padding (margin) and not the discrete outline level (indentLevel, which writes a:p/@lvl). PowerPoint: Paragraph > Indentation > Before text.
'inherit'writes no@marLat all, so the paragraph takes whatever its list style (a:lstStyle→ placeholder → layout → master) sets, the third state that omission cannot spell, since omitting it writes the bullet-derived default- omitting the option keeps that default: a drawn bullet writes its own margin (see
bullet.indent),bullet: falsewritesmarL="0",bullet: 'inherit'writes nothing - a value here overrides all of those, in every bullet state
Examples
ts
36 // body text starts 36pt (0.5in) from the frame's text edgets
'inherit' // keep the list style's margin, even on a bulleted paragraphRemarks
Read from the opening run of a paragraph, like bullet and unlike align; a value on a continuation run is ignored.
Inherited from
ChartPropsTitle.paraMarginLeft
placeholder?
optionalplaceholder?:PlaceholderOption
Name of a placeholder defined on the slide layout/master to fill, or a PlaceholderBinding that states the p:ph to write
- when it matches a layout/master placeholder, the chart takes that placeholder's position and size for any of
x/y/w/hnot supplied explicitly; explicit values always win - a name that matches none writes no
p:ph; a binding'sidxortypewrites one regardless
Examples
ts

optionalplotArea?:ChartPropsFillLine
PowerPoint: Format Plot Area (Fill & Border/Line)
Inherited from
radarStyle?
optionalradarStyle?:"standard"|"marker"|"radar"|"filled"|"markers"
Radar chart sub-type. Two vocabularies are accepted and mean the same three things: this library's PowerPoint-UI names (radar, markers, filled) and ST_RadarStyle's own wire spellings (standard, marker, filled), which is what the chart part shows. filled is spelled the same in both.
Default
ts

secondaryCatAxis?
optionalsecondaryCatAxis?:boolean
Whether data should use secondary category axis (instead of primary)
A combo subchart plots on the secondary category and value axes together, because a plot's two axes have to cross each other. When no subchart sets secondaryValAxis, the secondary value axis is written hidden; valAxes[1] can show it.
Default
ts
falseInherited from
ChartPropsAxisCat.secondaryCatAxis
secondaryValAxis?
optionalsecondaryValAxis?:boolean
Whether data should use secondary value axis (instead of primary)
A combo subchart plots on the secondary category and value axes together, because a plot's two axes have to cross each other. When no subchart sets secondaryCatAxis, the secondary category axis is written hidden, as PowerPoint does for a series moved to its secondary axis; catAxes[1] can show it.
Default

serAxisLine?
optionalserAxisLine?:StrokeProps
The series axis line, as a stroke: the same StrokeProps the other two axes and every gridline take. See ChartPropsAxisCat.catAxisLine.
The series axis is the third axis of a 3-D chart, and it was the one axis whose line could be shown and coloured but not sized or dashed: the emitter hardcoded one point and solid where the other two read the caller. Comparing the three axes' option spellings side by side is how that was found.

seriesOptions?
optionalseriesOptions?:ChartSeriesOpts[]
Per-series style overrides.
Element at index N applies to the Nth series of the chart, the same number the series carries in <c:idx>/<c:order>. For most plots that is its position in data; on a combo it counts across every subchart in order, so a bar(2) + line(1) combo reaches the line at index 2. A scatter or bubble series counts one lower than its position, because the X row in front of it is not a series: seriesOptions[0] styles data[1]. Missing indices or unset fields fall back to the chart-level option.
Not every field reaches every plot, and a stated field that cannot be resolved warns (chart/option-not-supported) naming itself rather than being dropped in silence:
colorreaches every plot that colours series:bar,bar3d,area,line,radar,scatter,bubble,bubble3d, and (as the volume bar and the close marker)stock.lineSizereaches only a series that strokes itself:line,radar,scatter,bubbleandbubble3d. A bar or an area takes its outline fromdataBorder; a stock price series draws no line at all.- the
dataLabel*fields need a per-series<c:dLbls>, which the category-axis family andscatteremit. A bubble chart's label block is chart-level, anddataLabelFormatCodein particular has no referent onscatter, whose label builders emit no number format. pie, doughnutandsurfaceread nothing: a pie colours points and a surface colours bands, so a per-series override has no referent even in principle.

showLabel?
optionalshowLabel?:boolean
Enable data labels, with a meaning that is overloaded per plot type. It is not a plain duplicate of ChartPropsBase.showValue:
- pie / doughnut: shows the category name (
c:showCatName); - scatter: turns on the labels ChartPropsDataLabel.dataLabelFormatScatter describes, and shows nothing without it:
'XY'shows both the value and the category name, and'custom'/'customXY'show each point's label text; - chartEx (waterfall/funnel/…): OR-combined with
showValueto show the value label.
For the common "show the numeric value" case on standard plots, prefer showValue.

Omitting the option instead states nothing and lets that inheritance stand.
